Synopsis and Discussion
A PM-2.5 HEALTH WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MONDAY FEBRUARY 05
Sunday morning ACARS sounding data indicates that the best mixing depth today will be near 3300’ and that a strong (7-8 deg C) surface based radiation inversion formed overnight that extends to nearly 2500’. The axis of a very strong ridge aloft is currently centered over the U.S. West Coast and is forecast to shift east over Arizona on Tuesday and Wednesday. Since the air mass over the local forecast area is already stagnant, and fine particle levels approached unhealthy levels on Saturday, a PM-2.5 Health Watch has been issued for Monday as a precaution for those with heart or lung disease. -Reith
