Forecast Discussion:

There is more to talk about this forecast period weather-wise! Two back-to-back disturbances are looking to sweep across Arizona from the Pacific Northwest. The first will occur tomorrow into Wednesday, where the main impacts will consist of slightly cooler temperatures, breezy winds, and a few additional clouds. Then Thursday into Friday, the second trough will graze through Arizona and cause a good chance of precipitation to occur. Rain totals are looking to be anywhere between 0.10 inches to 0.30 inches. We'll keep updating the accumulation values as we approach the end of the week.

Although rain is not the only major event coming through this week, breezy winds are also associated with both systems. Afternoon breezes on Tuesday could range between 15-20 mph, with higher gusts possible. In addition, wind speeds Thursday through Friday will range between 10-25 mph, with higher gusts possible. The first round of stronger winds will likely lead to elevated PM10 in the Douglas area. With rain accompanying the second round of breezy winds, dust particulates should drop down towards the end of the workweek.

Overall, PM10 (dust) will continue to land in the Good AQI range this forecast period. Any elevated period prior to rainfall will be driven by breezy winds and local activity.

Have a great day!
