Contaminants of Concern

Trichloroethene (TCE) and tetracholoroethene (PCE)

Action Taken

ADEQ is working cooperatively with NXP (formerly Freescale Semiconductor), the party potentially responsible for the contamination, to remediate the site. A pump and treat groundwater system was constructed and started operation in November 2013 as part of an early response action (ERA). The Final Remedial Investigation Report, Final Remedial Objectives Report, and Feasibility Study Work Plan were finalized in November 2018. The Feasibility Study was finalized in March 2022.

Status

NXP operates and maintains the groundwater pump-and-treat system as the ERA to address the TCE and PCE in the groundwater. Groundwater is extracted and treated then discharged into the Grand Canal system under an agreement with Salt River Project. NXP conducts groundwater monitoring and sampling semi-annually in April and October. ADEQ is currently preparing a Proposed Remedial Action Plan.
