Notice: Pursuant to the Clean Water Act and in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code (AAC) R18-9-A907, the Director of ADEQ proposes to issue an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) Renewal Permit to discharge pollutants to Waters of the United States to the following applicant, subject to certain effluent limitations and special conditions:

Palo Verde Road Wastewater Treatment Plant

The City of Buckeye applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of up to 0.5 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated domestic wastewater from the Palo Verde Road Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to the Hassayampa River, eight miles south of Wickenburg to the Buckeye Irrigation Company Canal in the Middle Gila River Basin in Township 1 N, Range 4 W, Section 28, in Maricopa County, Ariz. The Palo Verde Road WWTP is a publicly owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from residential and commercial sources in Buckeye. The facility has not yet been constructed. The sludge will be pumped to an aerated sludge storage tank for stabilization and then dewatered in a centrifuge unit. The dewatered sludge will be hauled offsite to the Southwest Regional Landfill or land-applied to permitted sites.
