ADEQ’s Southern Regional Office coordinates ADEQ’s environmental program activities to protect public health and the environment in the southern portion of Arizona and along the Arizona/Mexico border. 

 

 

The SRO conducts inspections and complaint investigations of air pollution sources, water and wastewater facilities. To ensure safe potable water supplies, the SRO monitors and tests public drinking water systems, inspects the construction and operation of wastewater treatment facilities and on-site systems, oversees the investigation and cleanup of contaminated soil and groundwater at Superfund sites, and supports ADEQ’s groundwater monitoring, source water assessments and water quality permitting activities. In addition to monitoring water quality, the SRO also processes open burn permit applications and responds to emergencies that threaten public health and the environment.
