Site Summary:

  • There is no offsite soil or groundwater plume at this time from historic smelter activities however; levels are consistent with background levels for the area.

Corrective Action:

  • For areas above background, ADEQ has removed affected soil at the Patagonia Youth Enrichment Center and backfilled with native soil.
  • Additional and final site response actions include residential soil removal, stabilization and engineered capping, partial paving of Smelter Avenue and covering Duquesne Ave., right-of ways.
  • Community Update flyer mailed to all residents informing them of the pending corrective actions.
  • Meetings have been conducted with Town leadership.
