PUBLIC NOTICE | Notice of Draft RI Report for West Central Phoenix North Canal Plume WQARF Site

ADEQ has released the draft remedial investigation (RI) and remedial objectives (ROs) reports for the West Central Phoenix (WCP) North Canal Plume (NCP) Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) site in Phoenix [Arizona Administrative Code R18-16-404 (c)(1)(b)]. An RI is conducted to document the nature and extent of the contamination and the sources thereof; identify current and potential impacts to public health, welfare, and the environment; identify current and reasonably foreseeable uses of land and waters of the state; and obtain and evaluate any other information necessary for identification and comparison of alternative remedial actions. Proposed remedial objectives (ROs) are solicited from the public and are the clean-up goals determined for a specific site and consider the current and reasonably foreseeable future uses of land and waters of the state..

The WCP NCP WQARF site consists of three plumes located in Phoenix. The plumes are bounded approximately by Indian School Road to the north, Flower Street to the south, Grand Avenue to the east, and 40th Avenue to the west. Contaminants of concern at the site are tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE), and 1,1-dichloroethene (DCE).
