P2 Resource Summaries
Pollution Prevention (P2) is the reduction or elimination of pollution at the source. It consists of activities such as modifying production processes, promoting the use of non-toxic or less toxic substances, implementing conservation techniques and reusing materials and removing them from the waste stream. In Arizona, P2 means any operational procedures and processes and improvements in house-keeping or management techniques that reduce potential or actual releases of pollutants to the overall environment including air, water and land.
Arizona P2 activities include toxic substance use and hazardous waste generation reduction, source reduction, recycling of wastes or secondary materials, waste minimization, reuse, reclamation, conservation and substitution. Reducing waste at the source is the most preferable P2 activity because it is an effective, economical and efficient way to reduce waste generation and minimize impacts on heath and the environment.
The following Resource Summaries are available to help you reduce your pollution levels.
These Resource Summaries were created by the ADEQ's Pollution Prevention (P2) Program with assistance from a P2 Grant provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
