Action Taken

ADEQ operated an early response action soil vapor extraction (SVE) system at the former Oliver’s Cleaners (site source) from June 2006 to July 2009 that removed more than 700 pounds of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

ADEQ issued the final remedial investigation (RI) and final feasibility study (FS) reports in 2014. In 2015, a former dry-cleaning facility property at 847 N. Stone Ave was added to the site as a second source. SVE was implemented at 847 N. Stone Ave from December 2017 to April 2019, as an early response action for this second source. SVE operations continue, with few interruptions, to the current day.

The Record of Decision (ROD) for the site was published June 30, 2020, and public notice of the ROD was published July 2, 2020. The ROD dictates the use of vapor extraction for treatment of the source areas and Monitored Natural Attenuation (MNA) for treating the chlorinated solvent plume in the perched aquifer.

Status

The Record of Decision (ROD) for the Site was issued in July 2021. The selected remedy is soil vapor extraction (SVE) for soil and monitored natural attenuation (MNA) for groundwater. The remedy is being implemented in accordance with the ROD.
