MEDIA ADVISORY | ADEQ Announces a $120,827 Brownfields Grant to Mohave County, AZ for Arnold Plaza Abatement Project

ADEQ officials announced today a $120,827 Brownfields Grant award to Mohave County, Ariz. to conduct an asbestos and lead-based paint abatement at Arnold Plaza in the City of Kingman.

The abatement work funded by this grant will help the County move forward with plans to sell Arnold Plaza to the Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council, who will remodel the building for use as a veterans services facility.

ADEQ officials announced today a $62,850 Brownfields Grant award to the Town of Miami to help the Bullion Plaza Cultural Center & Museum (BPCCM) expand its exhibits by making use of the basement of its historic building located at 150 North Plaza Circle in Miami. Currently contaminated with asbestos and lead-based paint, the building's basement remains closed to the public.

PRESS RELEASE | Green Light, Go Fish: “Green Light” List of Fish to Eat Without Restrictions, Including All Trout, Released

Arizona anglers have a ton of “Green Light” reasons to keep catching and cooking fresh fish.

For the first time, the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) and ADEQ have launched an initiative to highlight a “green light” list of fish species from specific waters that may be consumed without limits.

The list includes all trout statewide. Arizona has a total of 220 waters that AZGFD manages for trout, making up approximately 40,000 surface acres of lakes and 1,000 miles of rivers or streams.

PRESS RELEASE | New Program to Protect Health and Encourage Actions for Healthier Air

The Tucson area will soon be receiving five-day air quality forecasts from the ADEQ, thanks to a collaborative effort between ADEQ and Pima County Department of Environmental Quality. ADEQ has been providing air quality forecasts for Maricopa and Pinal counties for almost two decades and, beginning Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, this service will be available for the Tucson area. This is the first time that ADEQ has initiated air quality forecasts for a region that is attaining the U.S.
