During Kinder Morgan's March and July 2004 assessment of the extent of petroleum compounds resulting from their ruptured pipeline, volatile organic compound (VOC) vapors, including trichloroethylene (TCE) and tetrachloroethylene (PCE), were discovered within soils of the Silver Creek neighborhood. In early October 2004, ADEQ performed soil vapor sampling which confirmed and expanded upon those earlier findings. Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) reviewed ADEQ's data and determined that compounds detected in soil vapors pose no apparent public health hazard.
On June 3, 2005, ADHS published their findings in an Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) Health Consultation report. Click on the links below to view the ATSDR Health Consultation, ADEQ's public notice of the results, or to be taken to the ADHS and/or ATSDR web sites.
