Southern Regional Office Director
Amanda Stone directs the Southern Regional Office (SRO) in Tucson and has served in that capacity since July 2011. As SRO Director, Amanda oversees the Office of Border Environmental Protection, which carries out bi-national collaborative initiatives designed to enhance the environment for residents along the border. She also represents the department on emerging environmental issues and directs the implementation of numerous regulatory programs in Southern Arizona, including air and water quality inspections and compliance, federal Superfund program oversight and Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund implementation.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University and has worked for ADEQ since 1993. During this time, Amanda has served in a variety of staff, management and executive leadership positions including Waste Programs Division Director and Waste Programs Division Deputy Director.
Amanda is a current member of the International Boundary and Water Commission Southeastern Arizona Citizens Forum, and past member of numerous national policy development committees including the Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials Region 9 Brownfields Taskforce and the USEPA Institutional Controls Development Work Group.
