| SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT: PERMITS AND PLAN REVIEWS |

The Plan Review Unit provides technical review and issues approvals to facility plans and amendments for landfills and bio-hazardous medical waste treatment facilities. Financial assurance review and approval of other solid waste disposal facilities is also provided. The Plan Review Unit also reviews and approves alternative medical waste treatment technologies and licenses medical waste transporters and septic haulers.

- Municipal Solid Waste Landfills
- Recycling Facilities
- Non Municipal Solid Waste Landfills
- Solid Waste Storage Facilities
- Special Waste Facilities
- Transfer Stations
- Waste Tire Collection Sites
- Solid Waste Facility Planning and Permitting Requirements
A solid waste facility may be subject to one or more of these requirements:
- Solid Waste Facility Plan Approval
- Amending a Solid Waste Facility Plan
- Self-certification
- Best Management Practices
- Notices
- Minimum Operating Standards
- Aquifer Protection Permits
- Solid Waste Facility Plan Review Fees
With each application submitted for approval pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes § 49-762.03, the applicant must remit an initial fee in accordance with the provided. ADEQ does not review a plan until the appropriate fee is received from the applicant.
- Financial Assurance
Municipal solid waste landfills are required to demonstrate financial assurance on an annual basis.
