PHOENIX (Oct. 31, 2023) — The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is pleased to introduce Julie Riemenschneider as the incoming Waste Programs Division Director. She will officially assume her role on Nov. 6, 2023, bringing a wealth of environmental experience and expertise to the agency's leadership team.
“ADEQ is thrilled to welcome Julie Riemenschneider back to ADEQ as our Waste Programs Division Director,” said ADEQ Cabinet Executive Officer Karen Peters. “Julie has deep roots at ADEQ, having previously served over a decade at the agency in various technical and managerial roles. Her depth of environmental knowledge, extensive experience, and unwavering enthusiasm will undoubtedly drive our mission forward in new and exciting ways.”
In her role as Waste Programs Division Director, Ms. Riemenschneider will lead and oversee programs that promote waste reduction through pollution prevention and recycling, expedite voluntary remediation projects and brownfields property revitalization, address the cleanup of state and federal Superfund sites, permit and inspect solid and hazardous waste facilities, and manage underground storage tanks.

For the past eight years, Ms. Riemenschneider has served in the City of Phoenix Office of Environmental Programs. Her more than 28 years of experience in both the public and private sectors will be instrumental in guiding the division to further advancements in environmental protection and sustainability.
