Forecast Discussion:

A few light and isolated showers are moving through the Valley this morning; however, most of the rain is evaporating before reaching the ground, so don't expect much in the way of rain totals.

Satellite on this Thursday morning shows one weather disturbance moving out of the state toward the east and a second dropping into the state from the north. This second system does not have as much moisture as the first, but we will likely still see some isolated thunderstorms develop in the higher terrain north and east of Phoenix this afternoon/evening. Here in the Valley, the surface conditions continue to be a bit too dry for much rain to reach the Valley floor, but we could see gusty outflow winds.

By Saturday, high pressure will build over the area; however, another low-pressure system off the coast of Baja, along with a developing trough over the Pacific Northwest will keep afternoon breezes of 10-20mph in the weather picture. Afternoon high temperatures will also rise back into the triple digits Friday through the weekend.

As for air quality, with the increased breezes each afternoon, we are forecasting ozone values to be slightly lower, with the 8-hour max average each afternoon ending up in the upper Moderate AQI category.

Have a great Thursday!
